Fungal infections can appear on different parts of the body. While the majority of affected areas are mostly the skin and nails, some can lead to life threatening conditions like meningitis or pneumonia. Luckily, there are many types of antifungal medication available to fight and treat fungal infections.
Antifungal medicines work by either killing the fungus or preventing fungal cells from growing and moving. Antifungal medicines come in:
- Pessaries-small and soft tablet inserted in the vagina
- Injections
- Creams, gels, ointments or sprays
- Capsules, tablets or syrup.
